AN ODE TO BLACK
During the holiday season if you don’t wear color and sparkle people basically think you are the Grinch who stole Christmas. Listen, I love a sequin as much as the next girl (or guy…..@askmrmickey & @mrbradgoreski wear sequins so well), but despite that, I find myself in head to toe black nearly every day.
As a Donna Karan disciple this of course makes sense. If you ask Donna, “black is the color that says and does it all.” If you see me & my colleagues walking down 7th Avenue, we all look like an army together.
But even if I didn’t work at Donna Karan, I would still bathe in a wardrobe of black. I know outside of NY, you don’t really see a lot of people in major black ensembles, but I think we should rally to change that. Black isn’t scary and black doesn’t have to be goth. Embrace black because black has special powers…
Wearing black is an instant shot of sophistication. It’s a power color. It’s the ruler of all other colors. Black is an illusionist (I mean what other color makes you look thinner??). Black is quintessential and black is modern. Need I go on?
Ok I will. The Little Black Dress is a force to be reckoned with. Now I am not saying other colors aren’t amazing, but this holiday season don’t forget about black, because black doesn’t make mistakes-
